Sisters Over Seas: Our President Megan Laney studied abroad for six weeks at King's College London. Her classes were Literature and Diplomacy, and a class on Jane Austen. She has stayed in the city the whole time, with the exception of going to Paris for a weekend!
Leanne spent 6 weeks in London where she visited the Harry Potter Studios, Victoria and Albert Museum, the Wellington Pub, one of the KCL libraries, and Waterloo Bridge with a friend from Australia. Jordan exchanged at the University of Edinburgh. She studied medieval history, and traveled around Scotland and to London and Amsterdam as well! Sarah Varela studied abroad in Brighton, UK. She attended The University of Sussex. Sarah said Brighton is a vibrant beach town just an hour outside of London. She traveled to Barcelona, Edinburgh, Paris, and Amsterdam. This was her first time studying abroad so she made the most of it. Melanie studied abroad for six weeks in Lyon, France. While abroad, she studied the French language and culture at the Jean Moulin Lyon 3 University. She also traveled to Saint Marie de la Mer, Grenoble, Annecy, Aix les Bains and Paris. Her favorite memory from her time abroad was watching the French National team win the FIFA World Cup! We are so happy to have an organization filled with members that are given the opportunity to broaden their lenses from a worldwide view August 12th-18th: 2018 band camp! Band camp went great, mostly because we were inside for the majority of the camp, unlike last year. It was a lot of fun welcoming in the first year band students into the Carolina Band experience. We even got our very own snapchat filter “The Marching Tar Heels Band Camp 2018”! Some of the food catered by Lenoir was a … experience, to say the least. We topped band camp off with a call to Carmichael Arena for a “Carolina Game Day Experience”, offered to any students that wanted to come learn game day traditions, alongside the band. August 21st was the first day of classes! August 25th we attended the Fall Season Band Banquet in the Blue Zone. We had unique hors d'oeuvres to say the least. We met up in the middle of the dance floor to step with our sisters and brothers of Kappa Kappa Psi and then danced the night away until 11pm. |
