April 6th, Hannah organized the scrap booking event held in the Union. All of us added more memories to the TBS scrapbook and the new members made their pages.
April 16th, we began charter week by doing a TABLE event with SAI. We helped sort food that was sent to hungry children in the Chapel Hill area. It was a lot of work, but it was also fun because we got to know other members of GMC. Wednesday April 18th we held our annual “Women in Music” event. The sisters of the Iota Lambda Chapter invited Professor Andrea Bohlman, a historical musicologist, to lead a presentation for this year’s Women In Music Speaker Series event. Bohlman shared both her knowledge and her unanswered questions about music and sound, complete with audio and visual elements. Bohlman kept the audience involved by asking questions about how we interpreted the sounds she played for us and whether or not we would categorize them as music. The intriguing presentation was followed by a Q&A session about Bohlman’s experience as a woman in the music world, and a large selection of cookies from Lenoir Dining Hall. Our actual Charter Day was on Thursday, April 19th. We ended Charter Week on Saturday, April 21st, with our new member presentation outside of Hill hall. We could not be more proud of the work that our six new sisters have done to obtain membership in IL. Following the probate, we had our 10 year celebration. The food was delicious!! However, the real highlight of the event was how we all came together to reflect on the past ten years of IL and to discuss goals to strive for in the future. We are still overflowing with gratitude and appreciation for all that our charter mothers have done. Here's to another 10 years! Many of our sisters went to watch Kappa Kapp Psi’s new member presentation in the evening, then we had an ITB celebration later that night. April 26th, some of our sisters helped paint the cube in the quad to advertise for the Marching Tarheel’s band camp in August. We found out that finger painting is actually an art and it is the best way to paint on the cube. Most of our sisters went to the band banquet that was held that evening and the seniors got their senior gifts, awards, and chords. April 29th, spring pictures were taken outside of Hill Hall, the kissing bench (haha), and in front of the freshly, bloomed flowers beside the Old Well, just a reminder of how beautiful UNC is in the spring. |
