On March 8th-18th we had our Spring Break! While some of the sisters went back home, others took a trip to Pennsylvania! JZ (Jenna Zottoli) had this to say about the trip: “We went to a cabin in Shanksville, PA where we went to the Flight 93 Memorial and were able just to hang out. We went into Pittsburgh to see the downtown area, ate at Primanti Brothers, and rode the incline. We went to the strip district and had a small shopping spree. On the last day, we all made tamales together thanks to Sarah’s family recipe!” They were able to bond more as sisters and also had lots of funny stories to tell the rest of the chapter when they got back from their trip!
We were also able to participate in One Act training this semester! This program teaches bystander skills for Carolina students to prevent violence. Eva said: “The ONE ACT training was a very rewarding experience as you learn how to be an active bystander and prevent incidents of interpersonal violence and sexual assault. You’re placed in real life examples to be more prepared and learn effective techniques that you might not think of in real situations. The training is very interactive and teaches you important statistics and approaches to prevent situations such as stalking, assault, and harassment that are so common on college campuses.” Some of our sisters were able to travel for the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament First and Second Rounds in Waco, TX! Not only were they able to go cheer on the Tar Heels, but they also got to visit Magnolia (from the HGTV show “Fixer Upper”, Chip and Joanna Gaines are awesome) with some brothers from KKPsi! On March 26th, we celebrated Founder’s Day! Ava Smith, our Historian and Webmaster, planned dinner with pizza and Insomnia cookies, and also organized a game of “Jeopardy” where we reviewed and learned more about the history of our chapter! It was super fun and we even had a team name called “Garrison’s Busted Lip”! Thanks Ava for organizing a wonderful Founder’s Day Celebration, and shoutout to Hannah Macie for joining us! At the end of March, some of our sisters took a trip to Virginia Tech to participate in some more Founder’s Day celebrations! It was about a 3 hour drive, but it was definitely worth it! Thank you to the Zeta Omicron chapter of TBS for having us, we had a great time! |
