Maranda Hansley (sudden Vivacity,Fall '15) gives her thoughts on our Rush Week. Enjoy! This semester has been off to a busy start for IL. For starters, we had a snow-filled Rush Week. We began the week with No Pain(t), No Gain. There was a basketball game that night, so we painted people’s faces before the game. Most people got an interlocking “NC” on their faces, but I somehow also ended up with a K on mine (Shout out to Kenzie for that!). Cheerwine and Design had to be rescheduled due to the snow, and our post-band service event was canceled because the university was still closed. We got the ball rolling again when we hosted a Trivia Night. The questions were band and sister themed. Everyone seemed to enjoy it a lot, even though the better team lost (sorry, not sorry). Our last open-to-the-public event was Movie Night Feat. Cheerwine and Design. This night did not exactly go as expected. The TV in the lounge we were in would not show the movie, which sucked because we were going to watch The Cheetah Girls AKA the most sister-y movie to exist. Instead, we listened to the soundtrack and made friendship bracelets. I guess I cannot be mad because we learned more about each other that way. There was also a paint station set up for anyone who was not willing to take an hour to make a bracelet. Don’t get me wrong. The bracelets turned out nice, but they were hard to get started and be patient enough to complete. Our invite-only event was a lovely brunch. All the sisTAUs brought something. During this time, we taught the attendees about what TBS does for the band and community. The attendees seemed to like us, and we liked them back. The feeling was soooo mutual that all the attendees are now MECs. We have six of them, which is way more than we were expecting. We love them MOTS, and cannot wait to watch them grow as they journey into the sisterhood.
