Even though Spring ’19 Rush Week was bitter sweet for some of the seniors, we and the rest of IL were excited to experience Rush with the newly crossed Sigma Line. We kicked off Rush with a spirit night with candy and UNC-themed face stickers and tattoos before the home game against Virginia Tech. It was cold and windy outside but the sisters kept up the good spirits with laughs and game day predictions. The next day, Leanne held an Instagram live video to describe who TBS is and what we do. On Wednesday, we held our famous “Cheerwine and Design” event. We had vanilla and chocolate cupcakes and yellow, pink, green, and blue frosting galore. While we decorated our cupcakes and sipped on our Cheerwine, we played hangman and listened to throwback. After basketball band rehearsal on Thursday, the sisters hosted our Rush Week service events by stacking chairs and stands (Special shout out to the sisters who stayed after our service event to help the UNC Music Department prepare and set up for the All District Bands clinic the following day and weekend!) Wrapping up the week on Friday, we held “sisTAU talk”, where sisters provided sweet treats and a safe space for everyone to reflect on the past week and learn more about each other. We were tasked with naming something that was not so great currently in our lives, and then something random. To officially close Rush Week, we held our iconic brunch that the sisters cater (special shout out to Ava for her strawberry Nutella mini pancake kabobs!) For fundraising we have been cleaning the Dean Dome after the basketball games. This literally can be somewhat a sticky situation. Each member that contributes to the cleaning job, half of the money earned goes to their spring dues and half goes to TBS funds. But a fun side of the job is that we get a free meal after halftime and we get to go on the court after we have cleaned the stadium! See us on the court here https://www.instagram.com/p/Btrim7hFlow/ For service we have been continuing our program at Communiversity with Kappa Kappa Psi, teaching kids about music, every Wednesday. We have been volunteering for Playmakers at UNC when needed. In sisterhood news, we have scheduled a weekly sisterhood event doing Zumba on Saturdays in the SRC. Melanie, our SAS Chair, charged herself to create more bonding events throughout the semester, and even some including KKPsi. So far we have done a “Cookout Run” and an “ITB Movie Night”. |
