Rush week (8/31-9/5) was a complete success for the Iota Lambda Chapter of Tau Beta Sigma!
The first night (Monday) we had ZUMBA, which was led by Ariel Everett. We had a great turnout and a lot of fun! The second night was service night and we had people help with field set-up and break-down to get people pumped about service and Tau Beta Sigma! Wednesday, Day 3, we had “Cheerwine and Design (Cupcakes).” The cupcakes were BEAUTIFUL and incredibly creative. They were pretty tasty, too, for which I will definitely take credit! Thursday was the game against South Carolina and we had a break from activities to just enjoy our game day with the Marching Tar Heels. Iota Lambda actually got to meet some of the sisters of our Big Sister chapter, Epsilon Alpha, from the “Other” Carolina, which was really exciting! Friday, we played Capture the Flag on the upper quad, had ice cream sandwiches and popsicles, and had a TON of fun. We also had a lot of support from our KKPsi chapter, Mu Eta, which was incredibly appreciated! The dinner we had on Saturday night was delicious and a huge hit, with a wide range in our musical selection and an even wider range in dinner topics; I would go so far as to say that everyone enjoyed their evening tremendously! Overall, rush week was an amazing time and we got to meet so many people through each event, which made the events that much more enjoyable. Now, we are preparing ourselves and our MEC’s for the long, but joyous, road ahead of them. MOTS, Amy Whitman Starting a week into school the sisters of TBΣ were tasked with uniform sorting and distribution. This is something we’ve done for a long time and one of the biggest ways we can support the band and assist band staff at the beginning of the season. Uniforms were delivered, unloaded, and organized in preparation for uniform distribution. The next day the us and the brothers from KKPsi helped to find, fit, change, hand out, and record everything that the band members needed for their full uniforms. We had several people running around the uniform racks finding uniforms and making sure they fit, while others handed out the other gear and recorded names and uniform numbers. Our two guard members were also in charge of the colorguard outfits and did a great job handing those out and making sure everyone had what they needed. While it took most of that Saturday due to the number of members it went very well and everyone received what they needed. We’ll be hoping to do this again next year as it is a great way to both assist the band and get the TBΣ and KKPsi names out there amongst new and returning band members!
